Jeppesen inspires area Cub Scouts

Members of the Jeppesen Employees Flying Association (JEFA) recently hosted twelve Cub Scouts and their parents for a field trip to Centennial Airport (KAPA). The first graders from a local elementary school participated in an abbreviated ground school where they learned the theory of flight, how an airplane flies and the role weather plays in aviation and flight planning.

Following the classroom portion of the field trip, the scouts participated in the preflight inspection of JEFA’s Diamond DA40 and learned the parts of the airplane, viewed the plane’s avionics and the importance of ramp safety.

The youngsters had lots of questions and were thrilled to be around a real airplane. Who knows, one of these Cub Scouts might be a future pilot.
