Zika Virus Disease Outbreak has prompted the following directives from the Macau International Airport & Macau SAR Health Bureau. All aircraft operators which have been in Zika-affected areas are requested to have a complete disinfection of their respective aircraft cabins and cargo compartments. Upon arrival in VMMC, cabin crews are required to submit the following items below:

 (1) A duly completed General Declaration form; and
(2) A copy of the valid certificate of residual insecticides; or
(3) Exhausted aerosol cans retained after disinfection of the aircraft.

Please note that should disinfection treatment be found unacceptable by the Macau Health Bureau during their inspection, they can request the local ground handling agent (MBAC) to perform immediate disinfection in the passenger cabin and/or cargo holds. The costs per disinfection service are as follows:

MTOW up to 80T: USD $100 per cabin or cargo compartment
MTOW above to 80T: USD $200 per cabin or cargo compartment

Effective 26 May 2016, Australia will deactivate 180 VORs, NDBs, and other ground-based navaids.  There will be 245 remaining navaids that will constitute their Backup Navigation Network / BNN.  Australia intends for international operators to use GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) as the primary means of navigation.

The new standards as of 26 May 2016 are as follows:

-       Oceanic Routes: RNP4 or RNP10

-       Continental Routes: RNP2

-       SIDS, STARS: RNP1

-       Non-precision approaches: RNP APCH / RNAV(GNSS)

CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) will issue an exemption if the operator has RNAV1 or RNAV2 approval based on GNSS from their operating authority. The operator must have either RNP capabilities, or the exemption to operate in Australian airspace.

AICs regarding this change:

Effective March 24, 2016, the reciprocity fee created by Presidential decree 1654/2008 and regulated by Disposition DNM 2761/2009, will be suspended for 90 day period, or until an Executive Order be issued (as promoted by this National Directorate), for the derogation of this fee, as regards the US citizens entering Argentina territory.

***Effective 22June2016, the suspension will remain in force for US citizens, but the fee requirement still applies to Australian and Canadian passport holders.

SABE / Buenos Aires – Jorge Newbery

BA/GA flights are now able to operate into this airport but must have a permit for parking due to limited ramp space.

Summer Olympics 05-21 August, Paralympics 07-18 Sept 2016

For planning flights to Brazil during these periods the allotment of slots for BA/GA flights is limited.

Airport slots will be required at all host cities: Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasilia, Manaus.

In addition to the airport slots, aircraft parking must be coordinated in advance.

Lider Aviacao will be the administrator of GA aircraft parking at SBGL and will control 70% of the total allocated space for the Olympics. The effective dates will be 01 July – 30 Sept 2016.  The parking area is a taxiway and has multiple accesses so aircraft will not be blocked in their spaces.

Operators who might make last minute plans to travel to Rio cannot be assured of being accommodated at SBGL.  Parking charges for the event have not yet been determined but they will significantly more than normal.

Cockpit crewmembers do not require a visa unless they are commercialing into Brazil.  All other crewmembers (flight attendants, mechanics etc) require a visa prior to arriving in Brazil.  American, Canadian, Australian, and Japanese passengers traveling as tourists are not required to have visas from 01 June to 18 Sept 2016, with no extensions.

Hotels are already at a premium and come with strict cancellation policies. Western chain hotels are already becoming unavailable.

Lider Aviacao has information posted on their website:

New requirement for business travelers to enter Canada, which does exempt US citizens.

 The application link:

New entry requirement now in effect

Visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travelers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.

Note: Until September 29, 2016, travelers who do not have an eTA can board their flight, as long as they have appropriate travel documents, such as a valid passport. During this leniency period, border services officers can let travelers arriving without an eTA into the country, as long as they meet the other requirements to enter Canada.
