CAAC- the Chinese government has recently written to more than 40 international airlines and private businesses demanding that they remove from their websites any information that suggests Taiwan is not part of China. Major airlines which include United, American and Delta are among those that were given a Wednesday 25 July deadline by the Chinese government in Beijing to change how their global websites refer to Taiwan.  In addition to Taiwan, the Chinese government has stated that penalties will be imposed on companies who do not indicate on their public-facing applications and programs that Hong Kong, Macau, and Tibet are also regions of the People’s Republic of China and as such must not be shown as independent entities.

VHHH / Hong Kong Intl - Hong Kong no longer considers the United States to be a Zika infected and as such if the aircraft is coming from the US it does not need to be sprayed with insecticide.


 WIHH / Halim Perdanakusuma – Per WIHH NOTAM Runway 06/24 will be closed for work in progress from 30 June to 31 August 2018 from 1700Z - 2200Z

(Local times are 2300LT - 0500LT) and 06/24 runway is limited to aircraft with maximum MTOW of 80.000KG during this construction period.


 Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) – Initial planning for the Tokyo Games 2020 Summer Olympics (officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad) has started. JCAB wants to offer both Haneda (RJTT) and Narita (RJAA) for Olympic traffic as much as possible and temporary government organization/team to allocate slots/spots will be created in the months ahead closer to the games. JCAB is looking into creating special CIQ which will be located near the GA parking areas to help facilitate quick and smooth processing of crew and passengers for the games.


 WMKK / Kuala Lumpur Intl Sepang- As per Shaz Melisa Azlan in the Business Development Division of POS Aviation, KL AIRPORT SERVICES changed its name to POS AVIATION.  All contact information has been updated to reflect this change in TPS.


 Jeppesen Global Trade Solutions has confirmed that previous restrictions listed for Myanmar no longer apply and additional handling agents such as Asia Flight Services can now be used for ground handling and permit requests in the South East Asia Region including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand.


 Manila / Philippines - FAM International Security has stated that increased caution in the Philippines should be exercised due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and a measles outbreak. Travel is discouraged to The Sulu Archipelago, including the Southern Sulu Sea, and Marawi City in Mindanao due to crime, terrorism, and civil unrest. The Philippine government has declared a State of National Emergency on Account of Lawless Violence in Mindanao. Terrorist and armed groups continue plotting possible kidnappings, bombings, and other attacks in the Philippines.


 In response to the Chinese government's recent demand that Taiwan must not be shown as an independent entity on any company’s public-facing applications or program, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has urged global airlines and private business to deal with the issue in a way that means not folding in the face of Chinese pressure. The Taiwanese government has officially stated “The decision by Air Canada to buckle under pressure from Beijing & designate Taiwan as part of China on its website is unacceptable to the government and people of Taiwan. We urge the carrier to reverse this change & respect Taiwan’s sovereignty and dignity.”



For flights departing Alaskan airports with destinations in China, the CAAC is requiring a stamped GENDEC that contains both crew and passenger information. This new GENDEC form, available now through a link in TPS, is not an official USCBP form but it accepted by the CAAC.



SLSU / Juana Azurduy De Padilla – As confirmed by the local airport authority, on 15 May 2016, SLSU airport closed, and all its operations moved to Alcantari Airport, SLAL.  TPS has been updated to reflect these changes.


SPSO / Pisco – Continued work to improve the runways will have runway 22/04 closed for several months from 0400Z - 1130Z from 17 June through 14 September 2018.


 The 2018 hurricane outlook according to the National Weather Service for the Atlantic hurricane season is from 01 June – 30 November. This includes the Caribbean Sea as well. In the Eastern Pacific Ocean, hurricane season started on 15 May and lasts until 30 November.


 MROC / San Jose - Runway 07/25 closed on 1, 8, 15 August at 0645Z – 0845Z, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 14 August at 0430Z – 0540Z and 0645Z – 0845Z,  6, 13 August at 0905Z – 1005Z per NOTAM.

Airport will close daily on 16 August – 30 November 2018 between 0500Z – 1030Z per NOTAM.


 MPBO / Jose Ezequiel Hall - Runway 09/27 closed from 0000Z -0300Z and 110Z0-1200Z daily through 24 August 2018 per NOTAM.



 The following Canadian Provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nunavut, Ontario and Saskatchewan will celebrate a Civic (Regional) Holiday on August 6, 2018 and one should verify the CANPASS hours for those airports within these Provinces.

 New requirement for business travelers to enter Canada, which does exempt US citizens.

Crew entry requirement now in effect

Visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travelers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.

Aircraft operators are reminded to always have the proper multiple entry authorization or applying permits along with the mandatory updated aircraft documents on board the plane for the Mexican Authorities are randomly checking such documents at different airports.

 The Mexican DGAC has prohibited individuals from carrying the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones on board of any aircraft due to the risk of explosions without any advance notice. 

MMCL / Culiacan Intl - General Aviation apron overnight parking is prohibited through 31 December 2018 per NOTAM.

MMCT / Chichen Itza Intl - Airport has changed their ATS hours of service from 1300Z – 2100Z daily through 30 October 2018 per NOTAM.

MMGM / Managua - Airport not authorizing the extension of service hours through 31 October 2018 per NOTAM.

KBFI / Boeing Field/King County Intl - Runway 14R/32L (long runway) will be closed nightly for preventative maintenance and construction through October 15, 2018. All work will be done during the night and will not occur on Monday through Wednesday nights. Consult the local NOTAMS and the FBO’s if needed.

Runway 14L/32R (short runway) will remain open with a 12,500 pound limitation during the project.  Approach procedures requiring circling may require additional spacing on the SEA final and may cause additional delay to SEA arrivals.


The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) now bans all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from airplanes per the following -

The Bridgestone Invitational (PGA Tour) will take place on August 2 – 6, 2018 in Akron, Ohio. The airport in the area is KCAK.

The 2018 PGA Championship (Golf) will take place on August 9 – 12, 2018 in St. Louis, MO. The airports in the area are KSTL and KSUS.

The 2018 US Open (US Tennis Association) will take place on August 27 – September 9, 2018 in Flushing, New York. The airports in the area are KJFK, KLGA, KTEB and KHPN.


 According to the National Weather Service, the 2018 hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean is from June 1 – November 30.

The Emancipation Day Holiday will be celebrated on August 6 in the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and Turks & Caicos Islands.


TNCA / Aruba Island - Airport will only consider to re-open between 0400-1100UTC during a medical emergency via proper airport contact per NOTAM.  


Bahamas Civil Aviation bans all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from aircraft travelling in the Bahamas. Devices may not be transported by passengers or crew on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the commonwealth of the Bahamas and cannot be shipped as air cargo.


TFFR / Le Raizet - Runway 12/30 closed on August 2 from 0230 – 1030UTC and on August 3, 4 from 0330 – 1030UTC to all traffic except state helicopters per NOTAM.


 UUWW / Vnukovo - Nigh closures in force from the 23 July through 31 July, between 0040Z - 0305Z.

UHHH / Khabarovsk - Aerodrome closed between 0350Z-0650Z every Tuesday until 23 October 2018. Check NOTAMS for updates to the above.



 UMMS / Minsk 2 - Various night closures planned throughout 2018. Please check NOTAMS for full details prior to planning any trips to this Aerodrome.


 UCFM / Bishkek - Runway closed for maintenance every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1400Z - 2100Z, through 26 October 2018.


 UTDD / Dushanbe - Runway 09/27 closed 0800Z - 1230Z daily, excluding Saturday and Sunday, through 01 October 2018


 OAKB / Kabul - Runway 11/29 closed between 1730Z-2230Z on the following dates: 04/11/18/25 August 2018. Check NOTAMS for updates



FNLU / Luanda - Daily between 0700Z - 1300Z, Runway 25/07 will close due to work in progress. Restriction in place until the 18 September 2018.                   


 HKJK / Nairobi - Nightly Runway closures between 2230Z-0100Z. Restrictions remain in force through 16 August 2018.


 FAA/EASA advisories and restrictions remain in place for operations into, out of, and over the following countries and their associated FIRs. SYRIA, AFGHANISTAN, UKRAINE, SOMALIA, ETHIOPIA, SUDAN, EGYPT - SINAI PENINSULA, LIBYA, RUSSIA

 During the peak summer season most Airports on the Greek islands have heavy restrictions on all BA/GA traffic. These include, but are not limited to, mandatory PPR application and confirmation up to 24 hours prior to flight, maximum ground time of 20 minutes, and mandatory carriage of tow bar head. See NOTAMS for individual locations for regulations specific to that Airport.  


LFMN / Nice - Due to the peak summer season it is recommended to tanker fuel where possible to avoid delays on departure. When this is not possible, please ask operators to consider fueling on arrival when stopping overnight.


EBBR / Brussels National - 24 - 26 August, Brussels will be hosting the Belgium 2018 F1 Grand Prix. During these dates, the Airport and associated facilities will be in high demand. Please make sure all requests are submitted to the handlers in a timely manner to avoid disappointment.  


Milan Linate LIML / Milan Malpensa LIMC - 31 August – 02 September, the Italian F1 GP will be held in Monza, just outside of Milian. During these dates, both LIML and LIMC Airports and surrounding facilities will be in high demand. Please make sure all requests for handling, landing, parking, transport and hotels are submitted in a timely manner to avoid disappointment.  



 The 22 and 23 August are public holidays in the UAE. This closure will include the CAA. With this in mind, it is recommended any permit requests are submitted well in advance of these dates.


OOMS / Muscat - Every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday between 0100Z-0200Z Runway 08L/26R will be closed due work in progress. Caution men and equipment in vicinity of Runway. Last start up from both the North and South Apron will be 0040Z.



 The Indian CAA will be closed on 15 and 22 August, 2018 for national holidays. Please ensure any permit applications are processed well in advance of these dates.
