CAAC is closed for the Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday 22-24 September 2018. All landing and overflying will not be processed during this period except ambulance, and diplomatic flights.  Make all necessary arrangements in advance.

In accordance with the "One China" policy changes in the names of several countries have been made effective immediately. Taiwan has been changed to: TAIWAN, REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Hong Kong has been changed to:  HONG KONG, SAR CHINA and Macau has been changed to: MACAU, SAR CHINA.

VHHH / Hong Kong Intl - Night Slot availability changes for GA/BA operations between 1600-2059Z will increase from 4 slots daily to 6 slots daily from 8 August 2018 until 2359Z on 7 October 2018. These 6 slots will be made available to all aircraft types that are not currently exempted from the Noise Quota Count Pilot Scheme.  This expands the current list of aircraft types given in the "Notice from Hong Kong Schedule Coordination Office regarding Night and Ad-hoc Slots" issued on 13 Sepember 2017 ("The Notice") and is inclusive of the 4 daily slots currently available for the same hours of operation as given in The Notice. The application procedure for these 6 slots will be the same as that for the 4 daily slots currently available.

ZBAA/Beijing Capital International Airport - Due to the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), parking is not available for BA/GA aircraft that do not participate in this event.  The flight restriction begins at 1600Z on 29August and extends through 06 Sepember 2018. Throughout the conference time, during 0600L-2355L, at most 2 attendees can land or take off per hour. During 0700L-0855L, attendees can land, but not take off.  Air ambulance or emergency flights will be permitted parking.  Applicants must provide the FOCAC invitation letter to apply for ZBAA slots for this event.



RCSS / Songshan - From 1 July 2018 UNTIL 15 September 2018, Runway 10/28 CLOSED AT 1440-2230Z daily and from 0345-0425Z due to runway work in progress.



SAEZ/Ezeiza Intl Ministro Pistarini, SADP/El Palomar and SABE/Jorge Newbery Aeroparque  - Aerodromes will all be closed to BA/GA aircraft from 29 November 2018 1800Z until 2 December 2018 0100Z due to G20 Summit in Argentina.  During this period only aircraft belonging to the heads of states or participants in the G-20 Argentina Summit will be authorized to operate into and out of SAEZ, SADP and SABE.

Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil of Argentina - ANAC has recently stated that the following airports need to have a "Special Internationalization Permit" for all international arrivals and departures: SABE, SAWC, SAZY, SAAP, SANU, SAVT, SAVY, SAMM, SANR and SAVE.  The fee for the permit, as of August 2018, is $900. The permit request must be filed through the handler and the permit needs to be applied for 72hrs (Monday to Friday) prior to the date of the purposed flight.


Crime rates remain high in Colombia. Illegal armed groups and other criminal groups are heavily involved in the drugs trade and serious crime including kidnapping (for ransom and political purposes), money laundering and running extortion and prostitution rackets. The internal conflict between the government, paramilitaries, and insurgent groups continues to pose a high threat towards the security situation in Colombia. Travelers should avoid nonessential travel to certain areas. These areas include, but are not limited to, regions

 bordering Panama, Venezuela, and Ecuador; rural areas in the departments of Nariño, Cauca, Valle de Cauca, Guaviare, Caquetá and Meta which includes rural areas in northern Antioquia, southern Cordoba, southern Bolivar, and northern Huila. Colombia has one of the highest kidnapping rates in the world. Though Colombians are most often targeted, foreign travelers, particularly those employed by oil or mining companies, can become targets.


SPJC, Jorge Chavez Intl -To reduce airport congestion starting 16 August until 27 October 2018 daily from 0100-0400Z and 1300-1600Z  Non-Scheduled Flights are not allowed to arrive in SPJC only STATE, EMERG, SAR, HUM, HOSP AND MEDEVAC flights are excluded.

Runway 15/33 is closed due to construction from the 10-12 September daily between 0630Z to 0930Z.

Effective 15 August 2018 until further notice, all tech stops are forbidden for Commercial flights, and all BA/GA national and international aircraft. Maximum stay of 2 hours on the civil apron for GA/BA flights is counted from the time of placing chocks. After two hours, the aircraft must be transferred to another apron, parking area for aircraft or hangar, or must go to a suitable alternate airport. The recommended airport to re-position to is SPSO/Pisco. SPSO has a 9908ft runway, is 115nm away, and open 24 hours. General aviation flights are limited to two operating periods every day. Flights must perform their take-off and landing between 0500UTC-0930UTC [0000L-0430L] or from 1800UTC-2359UTC [1300L-1859L], 2-hour maximum ground time still applies, and coordination of ground services should be pre-planned in advance to comply.

The Peruvian Government has warned travelers that there is a moderate threat to safety due to narco traffickers and terrorist groups along the Colombian and Peruvian border area in the Loreto Region. Also the area in central Peru known as the Valley of the Rivers Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro (VRAEM) should be avoided due to crime and terrorism.



Hurricane Lane prompted the issuance of hurricane watches and warnings for every island in Hawaii.  Beginning on August 23, Lane brought heavy rains to Hawaii County, which caused flash flooding and mudslides. Hurricane Lane was the second-wettest tropical cyclone in the United States, after Hurricane Harvey of 2017.  Hurricane Lane was the strongest tropical cyclone in the central Pacific since Ioke in 2006, and the first Category 5 Pacific hurricane since Patricia.  Despite the severity of the hurricane no reports of significant damage was reported to Hawaii’s airports nor any commercial or private aircraft.


NSFA, Faleolo Intl - Samoa Airways Ground Handling has advised that landing permits require a minimum of 5 working days to process and the operator is required to file directly with the National Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure ( Address: P.O. Box 1607 Apia Samoa) Delays may be incurred during the permit process so it is advised that the operator submit the request as early as possible.


The 2018 hurricane outlook according to the National Weather Service - the Atlantic hurricane season is from June 1 – November 30. This includes the Caribbean Sea as well. In the Eastern Pacific Ocean, hurricane season started on 15 May and lasts until 30 November 2018.


MROC / San Jose - Airport will be closed daily from 0500 – 1030Z through 30 November 2018 per NOTAM.

Airport prohibits the overnight stay of General Aviation aircraft through 19 November 2018 per NOTAM.



Labor Day Holiday will be celebrated on September 3, 2018 and this holiday will have Government offices, banks and some businesses closed. Consult with the CANPASS Offices to confirm their hours of operation on this day.

The Toronto International Film Festival will take place on 6/7/8 September 2018. The airports in the area are CYYZ, CYTZ, CYOO, CYZD and CYKZ.

New requirement for business travelers to enter Canada, which does exempt US citizens.

Crew entry requirement now in effect

Visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travelers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.


Mexico's Independence Day Holiday is on 16 September 2018 and DGAC and other Government offices to include banks and business will be closed on this day. One should plan accordingly.

MMTO / Toluca - Airport Runway 15/33 closed on 4/11/18/25 September from 1530UTC – 1630z per NOTAM.

The 2018 hurricane outlook according to the National Weather Service for the Atlantic Ocean hurricane season is from 1 June – 30 November 2018. This includes the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico as well. In the Eastern Pacific Ocean, hurricane season started on 15 May and lasts until 30 November 2018.

Aircraft operators are reminded to always have the proper multiple entry authorization or applying permits along with the mandatory updated aircraft documents on board the plane for the Mexican Authorities are randomly checking such documents at different airports.

The Mexican DGAC has prohibited individuals from carrying the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Phones on board of any aircraft due to the risk of explosions without any advance notice.

The 2018 US Open (Tennis Association) will continue through 9 September 2018 in Flushing, New York. The airports in the area are KJFK, KLGA, KHPN and KTEB.

The Crown Royal 400 will take place on 7/8/9 September 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The airports in the area are KIND and KMQJ.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) now bans all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from airplanes per the following -


According to the National Weather Service, the 2018 hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean is from 1 June 1 – 30 November 2018.  


Bahamas Civil Aviation bans all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from aircraft travelling in the Bahamas. Devices may not be transported by passengers or crew on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the commonwealth of the Bahamas and cannot be shipped as air cargo.


TNCC / Hato Intl - Airport Runway 11/19 closed daily on 4-18 September 2018 from

0300U– 0930Z due to rubber removal activity on the runway per NOTAM.


UHHH / Khabarovsk - Aerodrome closed between 0350Z-0650Z every Tuesday until

23 October 2018. Check NOTAMS for updates to the above.

Aerodrome closed between 0500Z-0700Z every Thursday and Friday from 1 November 2018 through 29 March 2019

URSS / Sochi - Traffic regulations introduced at Sochi Aerodrome for the period of Formula-1 Russian Grand Prix 2018, 25t September 2100Z – 01October 2059Z. During the above times the below restrictions will be in force.

  • Due to holding of Formula-1 Russian Grand Prix 2018 in Sochi city, duration of Aircraft parking carrying out special or charter, flight including business aviation flight is restricted to 1 hour, with exception of Aircraft with head of state and official delegations on board.

  • Aircraft operators planning to carry out special or charter flight to Sochi Airport during indicated period must obtain time slot from Aerodrome administration before flight plan submission (including in case of departure DLA).

  • Possible long-time holdings of arriving Aircraft and further diverts to alternate aerodromes as well as departure delays, as a result of Sochi ad congestion, shall be taken into account when calculating fuel load. If it is technically available, refueling shall not be planned at Sochi Aerodrome, in order to minimize time required for Aircraft handling.

  • Aircraft with APU shall not be planned to Sochi Aerodrome.

In addition to the above, it is likely that services and facilities will be at a premium during the above dates. Please keep this in mind and request all required services, including ground handling, transport and Hotels as early as possible

UHWW / Vladivostok - Eastern Economic Forum will take place from 11 - 13 September 2018. During this time ramp parking and airport facilities, along with hotels will be at a premium. Please plan accordingly.



LTFJ / Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen - Due to Runway maintenance and repairs, Runway 06/24 will be closed for takeoff and landing traffic during the following dates and times:

UMMS / Minsk – 2 - Various night closures planned throughout 2018. Please check NOTAMS for full details prior to planning any trips to this Aerodrome.


UCFM / Bishkek – Runway closed for maintenance every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1400-2100Z, through 26 October 2018.


UTDD / Dushanbe - Runway 09/27 closed 0800-1230Z daily, excluding Saturday and Sunday, through 01 October 2018



FNLU / Luanda - Daily between 0700 - 1300Z, Runway 25/07 will close due to work in progress. Restriction in place until the 18 September 2018.                   



GQNO / Nouakchott Oumtounsy - Fuel hydrant systems are currently not available; all refuelling is by tanker trucks. Restriction in force until 28 October 2359Z.


FAA/EASA advisories and restrictions remain in place for operations into, out of, and over the following countries and their associated FIRs.

EFHK / Helsinki - Apron renovation works. During these on-going works, restrictions on taxiway and parking stands remain in force. Estimated end date of these works are

29 September 2018.


EDDH / Hamburg - Aerodrome Closed, except for Helipads, Daily between 2200Z and 0330Z for maintenance. Estimated end date 06 September 0330Z.


LSZH / Zurich - An air display will be held overhead the airport on Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September 2018. On each day a 30min (plus 15min buffer) long display is expected.
On the Thursday and Friday before the display corresponding training is planned with the same impact. The expected display is between 1150-1235 UTC on each day, during this time the airport will be closed. Arriving traffic will be regulated accordingly, through an arrival regulation, Departure traffic will be held at the gate. The displays will be held outside the peak periods. Detailed timing tbc.

LSZH is only allowing fuel on departure; this is based on local Customs procedures and not the airport itself. Which is why there is no official NOTAM posted for this, a local Handling Agent confirmed this regulation to us on August 26, 2018.


LIMC / Milan Malpensa LIMC and LIML / Milan Linate - On Sunday 02 September, the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held at Monza, just outside of Milan. Although there are no official restrictions or regulations published at this time, it is worth noting that both Milan Malpensa (LIMC) and Milan Linate (LIML) Airports will have increased traffic volumes.


LFMN / Nice - Due to the peak summer season it is recommended to tanker fuel where possible to avoid delays on departure. When this is not possible, please ask operators to consider fueling on arrival when stopping overnight.


The Indian CAA will be closed on 02 & 19 October, 2018 for national holidays. Please ensure any permit applications are processed well in advance of these dates.
